Hi. Here are some book reviews.
Fiction: Because I inhale audiobooks as well as love to read, I started to keep notes about what I was reading or listening to. After a few years, I decided to share those reviews on my website. I hope that they are helpful. I will say this—I am a tough grader. Many books of merit get very few stars from me if I don’t like the writing or think the plot is dumb. You’ll see that I focus on thrillers or mysteries and love strong, funny protagonists.
Here’s how I break down my star system:
***** Five Stars: Must Read
**** Four Stars: Recommended
*** Three Stars: Some Merit
** Two Stars: Not Awful
* One Star: Flawed
Nonfiction: Because I have read widely about women and leadership, gender issues, language, communication and soft skills, I started to keep notes about what I was finding. After many years, I have decided to share those reviews on my website. I hope that they are helpful. I will say this—I am a tough grader. Many books of merit get very few stars from me if I don’t agree with their premise, don’t like the writing, or don’t think they add much to the literature. I wouldn’t give my own books five stars, and I’m not sure they would get four.
